The Pauline K. Shaw Volunteer Program

MoMI offers opportunities for volunteers to gain exposure to Museum operations and get to know the MoMI community.

Responsibilities are mainly assigned on weekend days and Friday early evenings. Volunteers should be able to commit to a minimum of four hours per month over a six-month period. The average shift is four hours. Candidates should have an interest in MoMI and its programs, a flexible attitude, and an understanding that reliability is crucial.

Volunteers receive a complimentary year-long membership to the Museum, discounts at the Moving Image Store, and invitations to special events.

Roles and responsibilities vary by shift and may include:

If you are interested in volunteering, please submit a resume and cover letter to volunteers@movingimage.us.

The Museum hosts group interviews on a regular basis. Qualified candidates will be contacted when the next interview session is scheduled.

Museum Docent

Engage with visitors in the galleries; act as a guide through—and answer questions about—the exhibitions when prompted; communicate with staff to help ensure quality of the visitor experience.

*Note: some responsibilities require volunteers to stand for extended periods. Please indicate in your application if this is not tenable for you so alternate assignments can be made.

The Museum gratefully acknowledges Pauline Shaw, who developed and ran the Moving Image volunteer program after its building opened to the public in 1988.
